Fire alarm installation

How to book the correct electrician for your Fire Alarm Installation in just 3 minutes...

Our Kendall Electricians Fire Alarm Group can check, install and fine-tune any fire alarm system out there.

Here are a couple of simple things to quickly check to help you:

  • Check for the alarm or trouble condition.  Trouble condition sounds only at the fire panel, normally it will show a yellow light to demonstrate a specific reason for the trouble – examples are:  low battery, silence switch is an inaccurate position, zone is disconnected, and a few more).

  • Write down the different lights going off and the messages appearing.  This could help us determine the problem right away.  Many problems are quite simple and fast and may even be resolved over the phone to make it quicker for you.

  • If your power is gone, for whatever reason, your system could go straight to battery back up and this can discharge the battery.  This can cause a trouble signal – during the time that they are recharging.  Once fully charged the trouble signal will usually sound, requiring that it be moved back to normal mode.

  • Make sure that all switches for the alarm panel are in their correct position.  If there’s a sound in the alarm panel and it’s showing a yellow general trouble light only, take a look at the trouble silence switch…it could be letting you know that there’s isn’t really trouble and that the switch just needs to be turned off.  Fire code requires that the trouble switch must not be in trouble silence position if no trouble is actually going on (due to false alarms and false calls).

  • Always keep in mind that if an alarm indicator is indicating trouble, follow the correct procedures and act as if it’s a valid call for action.  Until it has been determined as a false alarm, don’t silence the alarm and check right away to see what the actual problem is.
